Privacy Policy

Plain language about what we collect, why, and what you can do about it.

Last updated October 14, 2026. This policy covers Friends of the Bar and friendsofthebar.com, operated by Pouring with Heart ("we", "us").

What we collect

  • What you give us: your name, email address, mobile number, birthday if you share it, and the bar you call home.
  • What happens at the bar: when you use your membership, our point-of-sale system records the visit, the check total, what was ordered, and the points earned or redeemed. This is how the program works.
  • How you interact with us: whether our emails were opened or links were tapped, your replies to our texts, and basic technical information when you use this site (such as IP address and browser type).

Why we use it

  • To run the program: track points, give rewards, and recognize you at the bar.
  • To talk to you, only in the ways you said yes to: email if you opted in to email, texts if you opted in to texts and confirmed.
  • To make the program better: understand which rewards, events, and drinks members actually like, so we can offer more of them.
  • To keep things honest: detect fraud and misuse of the program.

What we do not do

We do not sell your personal information. We do not share it with other companies for their own marketing. We do not use it for targeted advertising on other websites or apps.

Who else sees it

Service providers that help us run the program and only for that purpose: our point-of-sale provider, our email and text-message delivery providers, and the hosting provider for our database. Each is bound by contract to use your information only to provide the service to us. We may also disclose information if the law requires it.

How we protect it

Contact information is stored encrypted. Access is limited to the people and systems that need it to run the program, and every access to contact information is logged. Reports and analytics we use internally do not contain names, emails, or phone numbers.

How long we keep it

As long as you are a member. If you have not used your membership in two years we may remove your contact information. You can ask us to delete it sooner at any time.

Your choices and rights

  • Texts: reply STOP to any message, or see our SMS Terms.
  • Email: use the unsubscribe link in any email.
  • Your information: you can ask what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Email hello@friendsofthebar.com from the address on your membership, or give us the mobile number on it, and we will respond within 45 days. We will not treat you differently for making a request.

Notice for California members

Friends of the Bar is a loyalty program. Under California law it is considered a financial incentive program, because we provide rewards in exchange for information you share with us. Here is the summary the law asks us to give you.

  • What you give: your name, contact details, the bar you call home, and the record of your visits and purchases while using the membership.
  • What you get: points on your purchases that you can redeem for rewards, plus member-only offers and early access to events.
  • How to join: sign up on this page or at any of our bars. Joining is optional.
  • How to leave: email hello@friendsofthebar.com or tell any of our bars and we will close your membership. You can also stop texts or emails without leaving the program.
  • Value: we estimate the value of the information you share to be roughly equal to the value of the rewards we provide to members, calculated as the cost to us of those rewards. We do not sell your information, so it has no resale value to us.

California residents also have the right to know what personal information we collect, to delete it, to correct it, and to opt out of any sale or sharing. We do not sell or share personal information as those terms are defined in California law. To exercise any right, use the contact above.

Notice for Colorado and Texas members

Residents of Colorado and Texas have similar rights to access, correct, delete, and opt out of the sale of personal data or its use for targeted advertising. We do not sell personal data or use it for targeted advertising. Participation in the program does not require consent to any such use. To exercise a right, use the contact above; if we decline a request you can appeal by replying to our response.

Children

Our bars serve adults. The program is for people 21 and older, and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 21.

Changes

We will update the date at the top when this policy changes and will tell members by email or text about anything material.
